Backup Policy
By accessing our website, you are agreeing to be bound by these terms of service, all applicable laws and regulations, and agree that you are responsible for compliance with any applicable local laws.
Overview
Backups are an important part of website and email management. Having backups allows you to restore your website, files, databases, or emails in case of accidental deletion, system failure, hacking, or other disruptions.
While DHNigeria may provide backup features for some services, backups are not guaranteed and should never be relied upon as your sole recovery option.
Customer Responsibility
Unless otherwise stated, backups are not included by default in our services.
You are solely responsible for:
Creating and maintaining regular backups of your data
Storing backups in a separate and secure location
Ensuring older backup copies are preserved where needed
Using a shared hosting account primarily as a storage or backup repository is not permitted.
We strongly recommend using reliable off-site third-party backup services such as CodeGuard, JetPack, or similar solutions.
DHNigeria Backups (General Notice)
Some services may have periodic system backups, but:
Backup availability is not guaranteed
Backups may be overwritten
Backups may not always be restorable
DHNigeria is not liable for data loss
Our control panels may provide tools to manually create, download, or restore backups. These tools are provided for convenience only.
Enterprise, VPS & Dedicated Servers
Backups for enterprise services (VPS, Cloud, Dedicated Servers) are not automatic unless you purchase a backup add-on.
Key points:
Server backups (if enabled) are usually taken weekly
Backups may be stored in the same datacenter
Retention is typically limited (e.g., up to four weeks)
Partial restorations may not be possible (system-level backups)
It is your responsibility to keep independent backups before any overwrite occurs.
If a server is terminated, all backups are deleted immediately and cannot be recovered.
Policy Changes
DHNigeria reserves the right to update or modify this Backup Policy at any time without prior notice. The latest version published on our website shall apply.
No Guarantee of Backup Availability
DHNigeria does not guarantee that:
A backup will always exist
A backup will be complete
A backup can be restored to a specific date or state
You agree that your use of our services is at your own risk regarding data storage and recovery.
Email Hosting Backups
Email backups are limited to messages that remain on our servers.
Important notes:
Emails downloaded and removed from the server (via Outlook, Thunderbird, etc.) cannot be restored
Some email backups are handled by third-party providers and are outside our control
Suspended or terminated email accounts may lose all data if not renewed within the allowed period
Backup restoration for email services may require renewal and additional fees, subject to availability.
Shared Hosting Backups
For shared hosting services (including Web Hosting, WordPress Hosting, Reseller Hosting, and similar plans), DHNigeria may run periodic backups.
Please note:
Backups are typically overwritten on a rotating basis
Access to backups is only available while the account is active
Suspended accounts must be renewed before backup access is granted
Terminated accounts may not have recoverable backups
If a backup is available, retrieval or restoration may attract a fee.

Domain Name Deletion Policy
Domain Renewal Responsibility
It is your responsibility to ensure that your domain name is renewed on or before its renewal due date. If payment is not successfully received by the renewal date, the domain name will expire.
Expiration & Service Disruption
After expiration:
Your domain may be deactivated as early as one (1) day after expiry
An expired or parking page may be displayed
Services linked to the domain (website, email, DNS, hosting, etc.) may stop working

Redemption Period
If the domain is not renewed and not purchased by a third party, it may enter a registry redemption period, usually around 40 days after expiration (timing varies by TLD).
During redemption:

A redemption fee will apply in addition to the normal renewal fee
Redemption fees vary by domain extension (TLD)
Some domain extensions enter redemption earlier than 40 days, depending on registry rules.

After this, the domain is released back to the public and becomes available for general registration
Once released, DHNigeria cannot guarantee recovery of the domain.

Fair Usage Policy
Purpose of This Policy
DHNigeria provides shared, reseller, and WordPress hosting plans that include limited or “unlimited” resources such as disk space, bandwidth (data transfer), email accounts, and databases.
These plans are affordable because multiple customers share the same server resources. This Fair Usage Policy exists to ensure that one customer’s usage does not negatively affect others on the same server.
What “Fair Use” Means
Unlimited” resources are provided for normal website operation and reasonable growth in traffic.
Fair use allows you to:
Host websites and applications
Serve normal website files (images, scripts, content)
Receive legitimate website traffic without extra charges
Fair use does not mean unrestricted server consumption or activities that overload shared infrastructure.
Prohibited Usage
Shared and reseller hosting plans must not be used primarily for:
Online file storage or backup systems (e.g. Google Drive, Dropbox alternatives)
File archiving or dump sites
Audio or video streaming platforms
Excessive media distribution unrelated to website display
You may host files only if they are directly related to and displayed on your website.
External storage and streaming services should be used for large files or media.
Resource Limits & Server Impact
If your account causes excessive use of shared server resources, including but not limited to:
CPU usage
RAM consumption
Disk I/O
Inodes
Email storage per account
Bandwidth usage that affects others
You may receive a usage notice requesting optimization or corrective action.
Common causes include:
Poorly optimized websites
Repeated malware infections
Inefficient scripts or plugins
Abnormal traffic or abuse
Shared Responsibility
All shared hosting customers use the same underlying server resources. To maintain fast and reliable service for everyone, accounts that negatively affect server or network performance must be corrected or upgraded.
Growing Beyond Shared Hosting
High resource usage often means your website is growing — this is a good thing.
At this stage, upgrading to a VPS or cloud server gives you:
Dedicated resources
Better performance
More control over your environment
Improved reliability for visitors
We are happy to advise on the best upgrade path for your needs.
Actions We May Take
If your usage exceeds fair limits and impacts other customers:
We will notify you and allow time to resolve the issue
We may recommend:
Website optimization
Plugin cleanup
Upgrading to a higher plan, VPS, or cloud server
If usage remains excessive, DHNigeria reserves the right to:
Temporarily limit resources
Suspend the account
Terminate service where necessary
Our goal is always to help you find a solution that best supports your growth.
Policy Changes
DHNigeria reserves the right to modify this Fair Usage Policy at any time.
The terms bandwidth and data transfer are used interchangeably throughout our website.
